Preliminary assessment
on the state of conservation
View of object’s fragments

Number of fragments: 62 pieces. Some fragments were already pieced together in a previous intervention.
Surface incrustations of calcified earths are readily observed as well as noticeable traces of residues of bonding material still existing from previous interventio.

Restoration plan

Disassembling the pieces: Previously assembled parts are disassembled by using ACETONE.

Cleaning: Surfaces are cleaned with denaturalised ETHIL ALCOHOL, along with the use of a scalpel for further precision in the cleaning.

Assembling the pieces: Fragments have been assembled together by using an ”UHU” bonding adhesive. During this process some fragments that were not previously assembled were used to put all the other pieces together and thus allowing a complete restoration.

Completing missing parts: Missing areas were filled by using “gesso” (plaster) tinted with yellow ochre and burnt sienna.

Final touches: Not all the fragments were assembled simply because there was no consistency with the rest of the pieces.
