Initial report on the state
of conservation of the work

The object was found in a state of complete fragmentation. The entire work is detached from its base. From among the fragments, both the original clothing that covered the child's body andthe left hand fingers were missing. Dust deposits were found on the surface.

Restoration

Cleaning: alcohol was used to clean all surfaces, base and entire work.

Assembling: the child was reset in its original position. The attaching surfaces were still visible contributing to respect the work's original integrity.
White bee's wax was used to reassemble the piece, recycling the previous wax originally used to glue the fragments together.

Integrating missing parts: the missing parts were remade (clothing and left hand fingers) using bee's wax mixed wiht natural pigments as to create a chromatic resemblance as close as possible to the original.

Final protection: on all the wax surfaces decorative gum lacquer was applied.
